Gordon Castle Walled Garden
A hidden gem situated between the River Spey and the Moray Coast; Gordon Castle Walled Garden is one of Scotland’s best kept secrets. At almost 8 acres in size, it is one of the oldest and largest kitchen gardens in Britain and has been lovingly restored to its former glory. An oasis of calm and tranquility, the garden is also a hive of activity.
Constantly tended to by a small team of dedicated gardeners, a myriad of herbs, cut flowers, fruit and vegetables creates a sense of garden that is beautiful as it is productive. Some highlights include the 259 espaliered fruit trees and the central lavender garden. Prior to departing we visit the excellent Gift Shop with a fine selection on offer including gardening gifts and a Gordon Castle Gin which is handcrafted using botanicals grown in the Walled Garden.

Logie House Garden and Steading
We stop for lunch at the convivial and well stocked café and an opportunity to wander around the Steading with its eclectic shops, including a bookshop and an art gallery. After lunch a short walk takes us to the Logie House Garden. Originally a traditional Walled Garden with formal annual planting within Box and Yew hedging, large areas of vegetable production and colourful herbaceous borders, the planting is now more relaxed with many interesting trees and shrubs to create year-round and seasonal interest.
Different areas have been developed to provide a variety of conditions to suit a wide range of plants and planting styles. A charming stream meanders through the woodland garden to create further interest. We return to Inverness to complete the days tour.
